Tot School- Halloween

~Corinne is 27 months~

Here's a look at some halloween inspired activities we did for tot school last week.

Can you tell what her favorite tray was this week??   As soon as I saw the little bean ghosts on Pre-K and Sharing, I knew I had to make some.  So glad I did, all three kids absolutely loved them. :)

I took the fun "pipe cleaners in a colander"idea that's all over Pinterest and gave it a halloween theme by making the pipe cleaners look like a spider.  It's a wonderful fine motor exercise and fun to make the spider "walk" all over it's "web."

Play-doh Monsters

Costume Sorting
The picture cards came from the 3 Dinosaurs Halloween Pack.  They are intended to be used as counters, but they work well for sorting too!   I was worried that she would have trouble distinguishing between the mummy and the ghost, and the vampire and the monster, but she did really well.  She is getting much better at sorting small pictures like this. :)

Spooky Stickers

Snack and Story Time:
Witch's hats in a witch's broom treat bag

We read a different halloween book every day and enjoyed themed activities and/or goodies to go along with the stories.  On the day we read our witch books (Big Pumpkin and Room on the Broom), I made little witch's broom treat bags for all the kids with witch's hat cookies and candy pumpkins inside.  I had to snap a quick pic of little choc-o face here after she ate her cookie. :)

Ghost Bowling

On the day we read Ten Timid Ghosts, we did a little ghost bowling.  We did it at night and the boys wanted to do bowl with the lights off, so I didn't get many pictures.  But Corinne had a ball with the "pumptin" even into the next day.

(Max leaned his back against the chalkboard and his shirt got covered in chalk dust!)

Scarecrow Flannel Board

I didn't get any action pics, but she spent a lot of time playing with these scarecrow pieces from the book The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.

She also helped to bake halloween cookies.  She LOVED everything about it - the rolling pin, the squishy dough, the cookie cutters.  Everything.  I think next week I will definitely include play-doh with small rolling pin and cookie cutters.

Please take a look around my Halloween Pinterest board for more halloween themed ideas for kids.

This post will be linked to Tot School and many more of my favorite linky parties.
