Moon Sensory Bin

This bin was so fun to put together!  I love how such simple materials can pack in so much fun and learning. :)

 What's Inside:
  • Flour mixed with epsom salt to demonstrate the rocky and powdery surface of the moon.
  • Glow in the dark stars
  • Cardboard planet Earth
  • Cardboard planet Uranus (looks like a full moon)
  • Elbow macaroni (crescent moons)

I lined it with a black garbage bag to give it a night sky appearance.

The epsom salt worked out really well.  It not only gave an overall rocky texture, but some of it came out clumped together to look like {moon} rocks.

The boys really loved to squeeze the clumped "rocks" until they "exploded!"

My little lady was not a big fan of dipping her hands in the flour mixture.  She used a spoon, but that's about as close the little girly girl would get to touching this messy mound. :)
